Peel the onion and slice it into thin strips. Wash the bell pepper and cut it into similar slices. If you're using fresh broccoli, cut it into small, bite-sized florets.
If you have frozen broccoli: get a pot of water boiling with a pinch of salt. Once it's boiling, add the frozen broccoli and blanch it for about 5 minutes. Drain well and set aside.
Slice the beef very thinly against the grain. This helps it cook quickly and stay tender.
